Dear IGS Fraternity,
Greetings from The Indian Geographical Society, Department of Geography, University of Madras, Chennai and Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli !
The Society is actively engaged in organizing annual conferences, workshops, Talent test examinations to UG and PG students, felicitate the retired teachers of Universities and Colleges and so on from 2009 onwards. However, due to various tangled issues, the Indian Geographical Journal (ISSN: 0019 – 4824) could not be brought out in time. Now, it has been decided to update the publication of the Journal with a few attractive sections in the Journal.
The authors who wish to contribute can send their unpublished original research articles, along with address of four reviewers, to the editor for publication. And, in this regard, please see the Information to Authors before preparing and sending the soft copy of the articles to the editor. The authors are requested to state in which year the paper would probably be fitted for publication (between 2009 and 2017).
I wish to remind you that the first meeting of the Madras (Chennai) Geographical Association was held at Wellington Training College, Madras on the 31st March 1925; the inaugural meeting came off on Tuesday the 16th March 1926 at the Presidency College, Madras and the first formal meeting at the Senate House, Madras University on 19th February 1926.
To commemorate these events and to organise the Centenary Celebrations of the Indian Geographical Society, the young team is to get ready for the same. I hope the Journal would be a fitting source to announce and accommodate the events regularly.
We assure you that the activities of the Society, publication details and other related information will be updated regularly and you can see the updations of the Society in this website: http://www.igschennai.org. Any outstanding grievances regarding publication of the articles in the Journal could be brought to the knowledge of the Editor for proper redressal.
We request your kind cooperation in updation processes of the Journal and also for the forthcoming Centenary Celebrations of the Society.
With Fine Regards,
Prof. K. Kumaraswamy
